Noviembre 15
The Indigenous Councils of Northern Cauca in Colombia (ACIN – Asociacion de Consejos Indigenas del Norte) have a struggle for life, autonomy and land as part of a broader process of resistance. Regardless of the permanent violence and intimidation from the country’s armed groups (leftist guerrillas, right wing paramilitaries and armed government forces), the indigenous movement of Northern Cauca brings forward resistance and mobilization as an alternative to war and an imposed economic model on their lives and community.
The youth branch of the ACIN – the Native Youth organization “Alvaro Ulcue Chocue” is training and educating the indigenous movement’s current and future leaders. From July 3 to 6 of 2014, Connective Project, a Vancouver based group, attended the Native Youth Organization’s 13th Assembly together with one thousand indigenous youth in Cauca. The youth discussed, reflected and planned their actions and ideas to strengthen the Indigenous movement in their territory.
Connective Project members want to share their experience and reflections with friends and allies.
